Yes, Miss Madelyn turned 7 months old today and we just can’t believe how much more we love her every day that goes by. She’s been so much fun this week, doing a lot of talking (she loves “buh” sounds), a lot of drooling and a lot of pooping (gotta love those solid foods). She’s cutting her first tooth, but we’ve only caught a few glimpses of it because she sticks out her tongue every time we try to peek in her mouth.
She’s loving peas this week, and even grabs the tray on her high chair and sits forward eagerly for every last bite.
I (and most people) have always thought that Maddy looks so much like her dad and not so much like her mom (me). However, there is no evidence of what Dave looked like as a baby in Vietnam, so we’re left with only my baby pictures for comparison, which I think proves that she actually looks more like me .
My Uncle Gavin turns 30 tomorrow, so he’s a real grown-up now. He lives in Rhode Island and I don’t get to see him very often, but he was out here visiting last weekend and he’s coming back (on tour with his band, Ebu Gogo) next week.
I think he must be used to people laughing at him a lot or something, because he seemed surprised that I didn’t find his facial expressions and crazy noises all that amusing. Most of the time I just calmly watched him do his thing, but a few times I deemed his silliness worthy of a smile or two.
In honor of his birthday, I thought I’d share this nice photo of him and my mommy when they were little, and also this video of me spitting up in my dad’s face which I think Gavin will like.
Well, I just finished my first week of school (aka daycare), and much to my parents chagrin, I’ve already developed my first cold. I’m kind of enjoying all the extra fluids around my face, because it gives me something to rub around with my fists.
This has been a very busy week. I met a new friend who’s taking care of me – her name is Susette. On Monday I didn’t like her and so I boycotted my meals, but by Friday I had kind of gotten used to her and decided that she’s not soooo bad. There are also some other kids at her house and it’s fun to watch them play. They’re all way bigger and way more hyper than I am, so they put on a good show for me to watch.
On Sunday, I got to meet a new friend who’s littler than me, his name is Justin and he’s the son of my mom’s co-worker, Jason. I also got to meet some of mom’s other old Informatica friends (Jeremy and Shauna), and they were really nice.
Other updates for this week include:
- Ate my first veggies today (Sweet Potatoes). I liked them, but my parents weren’t thrilled because afterwards I did a humongo poopie which made its way out my diaper, and down my leg all the way to my foot – that was funny.
- Learned how to play the piano with my Ba Ngoai. I think I’m pretty good at it.
- Had fun making lots and lots of noises. Two examples are my loud yells and my spitting noises.
Tonight my Uncle Gavin is coming for another visit with his friend Christine. I can’t wait!
