Maddy’s still not coherent most of the time, but she LOVES to talk/babble and make funny noises (like zerbert, moterboat, clucking noises, etc.). Her top 10 favorite words right now are:
10) Please (”peas”)
9) More (”moa”)
Pooh-pooh
7) Hi!
6) Shoes
5) Bye-bye
4) Mama
3) No (or “naw-naw”)
2) Dada
1) Baby (”ba-beeeeee” meaning her dolls, herself, her animal toys, any pictures of babies or herself, or any small being)
Runners up include “mine”, “cheese” and many others, but she still requires prompting for most words other than her top 5. The most amazing communications skill Maddy has developed over the past month or so is listening and understanding what we say (which is still a little un-nerving). She will now fetch things for us upon request, and also screams “nooooooo!” in response any time we try to tell her to be careful or not to do something.
Friday, the 13th – My Uncle Gavin released his awesome “pop opera” called Home on iTunes and we listened to it all day. It’s a love / horror zombie story, and is my favorite music in the world (even better than Rock-a-Baby U2). You should all BUY IT RIGHT NOW.
Saturday, Valentines Day – My friend Summer invited me, Sydney and baby Gavin over to her house to play. It was a lot of fun raiding her toy chest, checking out her cool play kitchen, and duking it out over who got to hog the toy cell phones. I also loved staring at Terrell’s tiny baby Gavin and Summer’s three dogs.
That night, mom, dad and I went to one of our favorite Thai restaurants for dinner. In honor of Valentine’s Day (I guess), they had these cool traditional Thai dancers with pretty dresses and sparkly crowns and also Thai musicians playing these neat instruments I had never seen before. As a result, I had no interest in sitting at our table, but prefered to stand directly in front of the little stage they had set up and stare intensly at them while they tried to keep straight faces and continue playing the lovely music. Here’s me during a rare stint actually at our table…
Sunday – The next day I checked out the great Valentine’s Day cards that I got from some friends, including my neighbor Chloe and my daycare buddies Katie, Sophia and Marissa. Mom and dad think I didn’t notice all the candy that came with them, but I’m just waiting for the right time to sneakily crawl up onto the table where they stashed it and eat it all at once!
Monday – Yesterday was my Ba Ngoai’s (Grandma Anne) birthday. Even though she’s in Washington DC, we got to see her on a fun webchat. It was cool, because I could check out 4 videos at once – my Ba Ngoai, my Aunt Maren and cousin Eva, my Uncle Gavin, and me and my mom! Next time I hope that Aunt Lorna and cousins Sage and Jude can join us, because it’s really fun to see all the people I love, even if they are tiny inside the computer.
P.S. Here’s some bonus footage of dad getting me ready for my bath tonight (fun times):
Today, we went to the San Jose Tet Parade, and saw lots of neat things in honor of the Year of the Water Buffalo. That may sound odd to you, because the Chinese are celebrating the Year of the Ox, but dad says that in Vietnam it’s the Year of the Water Buffalo now, which I think is way cooler.
